The white grape variety is a new variety cross from Solaris x Gelber Muskateller. The hybrid was crossed in 1987 by Norbert Becker at the Viticulture Institute Freiburg (Baden-Württemberg). The medium-early maturing vine is resistant to both types of mildew and frost. The variety was released as a quality wine grape variety in Austria around 2018 after a long period of testing.
Muscaris produces acidic white wines with an intense muscaty tone.
