The Regent of Aan de Breede Beek is a red wine with a strong and still young, green character. It has the smell and taste of forest fruits, liquorice and spices like juniper, bay leaves and vanilla. The taste of cedarwood and liquorice are quite dominantly present after the 9 months of ageing on new barriques. Although the wine is already fine to drink now, the aromas of the fruit and cedarwood are not yet fully integrated. We expect that the wine will improve by letting it age for at least another year. When you prefer drinking red wine when it is still young, we would advise to decant it and to combine it with a hearty meal such as stew, pumpkin, old cheeses or red meat.
