TASTING NOTE

Linge Wit Edelzoet 2019

dessert wine

Our rating

6 /10
This wine is made by harvesting late and then drying the grapes for 4 weeks before pressing them (the passito method). The wine shows remarkably pronounced aromas and flavors of grapefruit and mandarin, combined with passionfruit and pineapple. It is quite light and misses a bit of depth and complexity. It is a sweet wine, but not enough to be considered a ‘typical’ dessert wine. Due to its distinct citrus flavors, the wine could for example be nicely combined with an orange bavarois.

Detailed Tasting Notes

Wine tasting: 1 Dec 2020
Appearance
A clear, lemon-green colored wine with pale color intensity.
Nose
The wine has a clean nose with youthful development and medium- aroma intensity. We smell aroma characteristics of citrus and tropical fruits with remarkably pronounced aromas of grapefruit and mandarin, combined with passionfruit and pineapple.
Palate
The wine has medium(-) sweetness, a low level of alcohol and medium acidity. The wine is quite expressive with medium+ flavor intensity but its body is only medium-. We taste flavors of citrus fruits such as lemon and mandarin, apple juice, grape juice and passion fruit.
Quality Assessment
The wine is well made and of acceptable quality. It is a bit one-dimensional and misses the depth that would have made it more interesting. This can partially be ascribed to the low level of alcohol. It is a sweet wine, but not enough to be considered a ‘typical’ dessert wine.
