Salamander Pinot Gris-Auxerrois 2015
white wine
A white wine with characteristics of yellow fruit and floral tones. We taste yellow fruit, some tropical fruit and elder flower. Despite the age of the wine (7 years old), it still stands firm, but we suspect that the fruit may have disappeared a bit due to age. This vintage year’s wine has passed its peak. We’re looking forward to a new harvest!

Wine tasting: 30 Mar 2022
Appearance
A clear, lemon colored wine with medium color intensity.
Nose
The wine has a clean, youthful nose, a medium (-) aroma intensity with fruity and floral aroma characteristics. We smell citrus, yellow fruit, unripe peach, apple, some blossom and flint.
Palate
The wine is dry with a medium level of alcohol and medium+ acidity. The wine is medium bodied and has a medium flavor intensity. It shows flavor characteristics of white fruit. We taste apple, white grapes, gooseberries, peach, unripe stone fruit, and elder flower. The wine is a bit drying in the back of the mouth.
Quality Assessment
The wine is a bit subdued and the expressiveness of the grape does not come out very well. Despite the age of the wine, it still stands firm, but we suspect that the fruit may have disappeared a bit due to age. This vintage year’s wine has passed its peak. We look forward to a new harvest.
