TASTING NOTE

‘t Biezenhof Solaris 2019

white wine

Our rating

6.5 /10
The wine shows a fairly big difference between a broad aroma palate and a rather one-dimensional taste palate. The nose is quite aromatic but has a somewhat green character with characteristics of unripe fruit, vegetables and herbs. The taste is younger, more sour and quite bitter with a drying effect in the back of the throat due to the fairly hard acids. This ensures that the wood is pushed back, which is unfortunate because the wood is well-integrated. All in all, a well-made wine in itself, not a wine that you easily drink away.

Detailed Tasting Notes

Wine tasting: 19 May 2021
Appearance
A clear, lemon colored wine with medium – color intensity.
Nose
The wine has a clean, youthful nose, which is quite aromatic (a medium+ aroma intensity) with characteristics of unripe fruit, vegetables and herbs. The wine has a distinctive scent of fresh mint. The wine has a somewhat green character with scents of unripe melon and unripe kiwi, lemon and granny smith apples. I addition some green vegetables like young fresh lettuce and cucumber.
Palate
The wine is dry with a medium level of alcohol (12,5%) and medium + acidity. The wine is medium -bodied and quite expressive with a medium+ flavor intensity with characteristics of fruit, vegetables and herbs. The first thing that comes to mind is the taste of bitter lemon. We taste lime, light notes of fresh pineapple, Elstar apples, sorrel, a pepper and a clear bitterness in the aftertaste. The wine has a medium- ending.
Quality Assessment
The wine shows a fairly big difference between a broad aroma palate and a rather one-dimensional taste palate. The taste is younger, more sour and quite bitter with a drying effect in the back of the throat due to the fairly hard acids. This ensures that the wood is pushed back, which is unfortunate because the wood is well-integrated. All in all, a well-made wine in itself, but too much hard acidity for our taste. Ready to drink now, not suitable for further aging.
