TASTING NOTE

Tussen Rug en Rijn Elschenbos 2020

orange wine

Our rating

7.5 /10
A well made orange wine! Quite aromatic with aromas of dried fruits and potpourri, orange peel, citrus and some vegetal notes. In the mouth also some fresh minerality and a small bitterness at the end. The wine is still a bit young, as the flavors are still not fully integrated with each other. But the wine has a lot of potential to age. Already good to drink now, but can improve by 2-3 years of bottle ageing.

Detailed Tasting Notes

Wine tasting: 3 Nov 2021
Appearance
A clear, rose gold colored wine with medium- color intensity
Nose
The wine has a clean, youthful nose and is quite aromatic (medium+ aroma intensity) with fruity, floral and vegetal characteristics. We smell aromas of dried fruits, oranges, orange peel, apricot, peach, apple cider, raspberry, vegetable like purslane and potpourri flowers.
Palate
It is a dry wine with a medium level of alcohol and medium+ acidity. The wine is medium-bodied and has a medium+ flavor intensity with fruity and vegetal characteristics. We taste flavors of mandarin, grapefruit, golden reinet apples, some fresh minerality and a small bitterness at the end.
Quality Assessment
A well made orange wine. The wine is still a bit young, as the flavors are still a bit separate from each other. But the wine has a lot of potential to age. Already a good wine to drink now, but can improve by 2-3 years of bottle ageing.
