Salamander Pinot Noir 2018

Een opmerkelijk goede pinot noir! We waren aangenaam verrast door dit juweeltje. Een zeer evenwichtige wijn met een mooi en breed aromapalet met fruitige, kruidige en aardse kenmerken. We ruiken veel rood fruit, tijm, geuren van dennen, leer en rozen. De wijn heeft een vrij hoge smaakintensiteit. Ook in de smaak veel rood fruit (cranberries!), Provençaalse kruiden, cederhout, lichte tonen van grafiet en de heerlijke geur van dennenbos. Goed te combineren met charcuterie, salade met eendenborst en cranberrycompote of, heel klassiek, met fazant. Hier willen we meer van! Kan iemand bijschenken?

Appearance
A clear, ruby-colored wine with medium- color intensity and some legs visible on the glass.
Nose
The wine has a clean, developing nose with medium aroma intensity and fruity, floral, earthy and herbaceous characteristics. It has a lovely and broad bouquet of cedar wood, fruity, spicy, and earthy characteristics. We smell cranberries, red cherries, strawberries, thyme, light leather scent, and scents of pine and roses.
Palate
A dry wine with medium+ acidity. It is a bit higher in alcohol than regular (medium+ with 13,2%). The wine is medium-bodied with medium+ flavor intensity. It has low tannins and a medium+ length. Flavors show fruity and vegetal characteristics, we taste a broad aroma palate of red fruits (cranberries, strawberries, raspberries) rosemary and bay leaf, pine needles/ resin, cedar wood and light notes of graphite.
Quality Assessment
The wine is well-balanced. The cedar wood is still a bit separate from the fruit, but given the low tannins, we recommend to drink it now; the wine is not suitable for ageing. A very good wine!
