TASTING NOTE

Apostelhoeve Auxerrois 2004

white wine

Our rating

Very special to drink this Apostelhoeve Auxerrois of over 20 years old! The wine is still firm and has developed a great complexity with beautiful tertiary aromas of stewed and dried yellow fruits, butterscotch, toast and orange zest. The wine is slightly oxidized and is at or over its top but very interesting and surprisingly good for its age! (Since the wine no longer has the character as originally intended, we have not given it a grade)

Detailed Tasting Notes

Wine tasting: 31 Oct 2024
Appearance
A dull, lemon-colored wine with medium+ Color intensity
Nose
The nose is clean and fully developed with a pronounced aroma intensity and aroma characteristics of stewed fruit, tropical fruit, dried fruit, sulfur, cabbage and wet pebbles. We smell apricot compote, dried figs, tutti frutti, butterscotch, yellow raisins and almonds.
Palate
A dry wine with medium- acidity, medium alcohol, medium+ body and medium+ length. Flavor intensity is pronounced with flavors of honey, overly ripe pineapple, orange zest, toast and slight oxidation.
Quality Assessment
A very good wine! The wine has a completely different character than young Auxerrois but is still firm. The wine is slightly oxidized and is at or over its top but very interesting and surprisingly good for its age!
