TASTING NOTE

Haagse Stadswijngaard 070 Auranje pôgt 2023

fortified, orange wine

Our rating

8 /10
A dangerously delicious wine! In the smell deliciously stewed and dried fruit and honey. The taste is very full with nice thick body. Also here a lot of stewed fruit, orange and Madeira like notes of vanilla, nuts and caramel. Downright delicious and beautifully done!

Detailed Tasting Notes

Wine tasting: 12 Nov 2024
Appearance
A hazy, orange colored wine with medium+ color intensity
Nose
The nose is clean and youthful with pronounced aroma intensity and characteristics of ripe stone fruit, red fruit, dried fruit, stewed fruit, and honey. We smell plum jam, stewed pears, rhubarb, apricot jam, ripe peaches, rosehips, raisins and honey.
Palate
A sweet, medium+ bodied wine with medium+ acidity, high alcohol and low tannin and a medium+ ending. Flavor intensity is pronounced with secondary aromas of oak ageing and tertiary aromas of developing white fruit and some oxidative tones. We taste stewed pears, tutti frutti, compote, plum jam, orange, vanilla, caramel and nuts.
Quality Assessment
A very good port wine! Ready to drink, but can also be kept for some more months or years for bottle ageing
