TASTING NOTE

Hof van Baarle Hertogen 2020

white wine

Our rating

7 /10
A wine, made of an exciting grape blend, which we don’t often encounter. It has this typical African sauvignon blanc aroma of citrus, gooseberry and green bell pepper. A nice and fresh wine but a bit one-dimensional.

Detailed Tasting Notes

Wine tasting: 8 Mar 2023
Appearance
A clear wine, lemon-green colored with pale intensity.
Nose
The nose is clean and youthful with medium+ aroma-intensity and characteristics of yellow fruit, citrus and grassy, green tones. We smell a typical suvignon- blanc-aroma, full of gooseberry, grapefruit, lemon and green bellpepper.
Palate
The wine is dry, has medium+ acidity, medium- alcohol and medium- body. It has a medium flavor intensity, characterized by citrus and green fruits and specified flavors of lemon, lime, grapefruit, granny smith apple, and vegetable tones of tomato leaves and white cabbage. The ending is of medium length.
Quality Assessment
The wine is a bit thin (watery), due to the lower level of alcohol and somewhat one-dimensional.
Quality is good, ready to drink now, not suitable for ageing.
