TASTING NOTE

Hanik 2018

red wine

Our rating

7.5 /10
The wine offers a surprising smell, quite pronounced and diverse. We smell a lot, and a lot of different things: dried fruits, vanilla (the smell of Italian panettone), roses, and scents of malolactic fermentation. The smell isn’t stable but continuously provides different scents, and for that reason it is quite interesting. We taste flavors of red currants, raisins, rose petal, vanilla, and almonds. The wine reminds us of red Muscat dessert wine, except without the sweetness. A very good price/quality ratio!

Detailed Tasting Notes

Wine tasting: 27 Oct 2020
Appearance
A clear, ruby colored wine with a medium color intensity.
Nose
The wine has a clean and youthful nose, with a medium+ aroma intensity with characteristics of flowers and dried fruit. We smell roses, vanilla (the smell of Italian panettone), figs, dried fruits, and yoghurt scents of malolactic fermentation.
Palate
A dry wine, with medium alcohol, medium+ acidity and medium+ tannins. The wine is medium-bodied with a medium(+) flavor intensity. We taste red currants, raisins, rose petal, vanilla and almonds. The wine has a bit of the taste of red Muscat dessert wine but not its sweetness.
Quality Assessment
This is a good wine, ready to drink now but will not improve with further ageing. The wine has a surprising smell, quite pronounced and diverse. We smell a lot, and a lot of different things. The smell isn’t very stable but provides different scents all the time; it is quite interesting as a result. The wine reminds us of red Muscat dessert wine. A very good price/quality ratio!
