TASTING NOTE

Hof van Baarle Rondo 2022

red wine

Our rating

7.5 /10
A nice Rondo with a lot of black fruit, combined with vegetal and earthy tones that provides the wine with it a bit of a savory character. The wine will will gain more structure and softer acidities with ca 6 months of bottle ageing

Detailed Tasting Notes

Wine tasting: 18 Oct 2023
Appearance
A clear, purple-colored wine with deep color intensity
Nose
The nose is clean and youthful, with medium aroma intensity with fruity and vegetal aroma characteristics. We smell blackberry, strawberry, black currant, cabbage, celery and herbal scents.
Palate
The wine is dry, with medium levels of acidity and alcohol, medium bodied and medium- tannin. Flavour intensity is medium+ with fruity, earthy, vegetal and herbaceous characteristics. We taste flavours of black cherries, black currant, bay-leaf, liquorice, vegetal tones. The ending is of medium length with a small bitterness.
Quality Assessment
A good wine, ready to drink but will benefit from ca 6 months further ageing. We expect the quite stringent acidity will soften and the wine will gain more structure with some bottle ageing.
Nice tension in the mouth!
