TASTING NOTE

Pinot Gris 2017

white wine

Our rating

7.5 /10
With a nose of yellow and tropical fruits, combined with some vegetal tones the Pinot Gris of Aldenborgh doesn’t have an overwhelming nose, but the taste is full and rich in flavors! We taste a lot of ripened and tropical fruits and some minerality and citrus that give the wine with a nice freshness. In addition, we taste some buttery flavors and a bit of saltiness at the end. A nicely made wine with a lot to discover.

Detailed Tasting Notes

Wine tasting: 6 Nov 2020
Appearance
The wine has a light haze. It is lemon-gold colored with a medium- color intensity and some tears in the glass.
Nose
The wine has a clean nose that holds between youthful and developing, with a medium- aroma intensity of yellow and tropical fruits and vegetal tones. We smell specified scents of ripened apples, apricot, combined with vegetal tones, mint, flint and minerality (wet pebbles).
Palate
A dry wine, with medium- acidity, medium alcohol and a medium+ body. The wine has a medium+ flavor intensity of tropical fruits, ripe yellow fruit, and minerality. We taste flavors of apricot, apples, melon, pear, and grapefruit. Some minerality and citrus provide the wine with a nice freshness. In addition, we taste some buttery flavors of malolactic fermentation and a bit of saltiness at the end. The wine has a finish of medium+ length.
Quality Assessment
The Pinot Gris is a good wine. It is ready to drink now but will not improve with further ageing. Although the wine doesn’t have an overwhelming nose, the taste is full and rich in flavors.
