TASTING NOTE

Samen Rood 2016

red wine

Our rating

7.5 /10
A good wine, with typical aroma and flavour palate of port wine: dried figs and prunes, cherries, red cabbage and liquorice combined with some vegetal tones. Be prepared for the characteristic Rondo taste: rustic and rural. Given the unfamiliarity of this grape outside the Netherlands, it is a not well-known taste that one must learn to know and appreciate.

Detailed Tasting Notes

Wine tasting: 29 Aug 2020
Appearance
A clear, garnet-tawny colored wine with an opaque color intensity, legs clearly visible on the glass. A typical color, one cannot see through the glass
Nose
The wine has a clean nose, it is developing with a medium + aroma intensity of dried fruit and vegetables. We smell a typical port wine aroma of dried figs and prunes, cherries and red cabbage, combined with some hints of cabbage.
Palate
A dry wine, with medium alcohol and acidity and medium – tannins. The wine is medium – bodied with a medium + flavour intensity. We taste dried, baked fruits, licorice and a bit of an undefinable vegetable flavour.
Quality Assessment
A good wine which is now ready to drink. Be prepared for the characteristic Rondo taste: rustic and rural. Given the unfamiliarity of this grape outside the Netherlands, it is a not well-known smell and taste that one must learn to know and appreciate.
