TASTING NOTE

Wijngaard Hesselink Achterhoekse Solaris Barrique 2022

white wine

Our rating

8.5 /10
A beautiful full-bodied wine, full of beautiful yellow and tropical fruits, spices and cedar wood. The wine has a nice complexity and the wood aging is very successful. We recommend 6-12 months of bottle aging so that the wood can integrate a little better into the wine.

Detailed Tasting Notes

Wine tasting: 4 Apr 2024
Appearance
A clear, lemon-green colored wine with medium- color intensity
Nose
The nose is clean and developing with pronounced aroma intensity and characteristics of yellow fruit, stone fruit, Malolactic fermentation and cedar wood. We smell yellow apple, grapes, butter, vanilla and smokey tones.
Palate
The wine is dry with medium(=) acidity, medium+ alcohol, medium(+) body and medium+ length. Flavor intensity is medium+ with fruity, oaky and herbaceous characteristics and flavors of ripe apple, apricot, lychee, white grapes, toast, brioche, cinnamon and vanilla.
Quality Assessment
A very good wine, Ready to drink now but can improve with further ageing. A nice complexity and the wood aging is very successful. We recommend 6-12 months of bottle aging to allow the wood to integrate better.
