TASTING NOTE

WW Zoet! 2018

dessert, white wine

Our rating

7.5 /10
The wine is quite expressive in both nose and mouth with pronounced aromas of ripe yellow fruit, tropical fruit and stone fruit. In the mouth, combined with hints of citrus flavors. It is a sweet wine, but a bit too light to be considered a ‘typical’ dessert wine. The wine is good and well made, with a nice balance between acidity and sweetness. The wine combines nicely with apple pie or fresh fruit, for example.

Detailed Tasting Notes

Wine tasting: 1 Dec 2020
Appearance
A clear, lemon-green colored wine with pale color intensity.
Nose
The wine has a clean nose with youthful development. It is quite aromatic and has a medium+ aroma intensity with aroma characteristics of yellow fruit, tropical fruit and flowers. We notice aromas of red apples, muscat grapes, mango, peach, elderflower, lychees and a hint of mint.

Palate
The wine has medium(-) sweetness, a medium level of alcohol and medium acidity. The wine is quite expressive with medium+ flavor intensity but quite light-bodied (medium-). Flavor characteristics of tropical fruit and citrus are clearly noticeable with specified flavors of ripe gooseberries, cantaloupe melon, ripe pear, mandarin and nectarines.
Quality Assessment
The wine is good and well made, and acidity and sweetness are well balanced. Good to drink now but not expected to improve further. Note that this is a sweet wine, but a bit too light to be considered a ‘typical’ dessert wine.
