TASTING NOTE

Domaine d’Heerstaayen Chardonnay 2019

sparkling, white wine

Our rating

7.5 /10
The wine has a somewhat typical yeast odor that is reminiscent of wine that has not yet finished fermentation. In the nose little fruit with a vegetal character, but in the mouth the wine is very fruity; lots of yellow fruit, a small red berry and a delicate mousse. A nice aperitif.

Detailed Tasting Notes

Wine tasting: 19 May 2021
Appearance
A clear, lemon colored wine with pale color intensity and petillance in the glass.
Nose
The wine has a clean nose, with a medium aroma-intensity and youthful development. The wine has a strong smell of yeast that we also know from Fruhlingswein (not yet fermented young German wine). We also smell fruit and vegetable aromas of citrus, applesauce and green rhubarb.
Palate
An off- dry wine with a medium level of alcohol (11.5%), medium- in acidity. It is medium- bodied with a more expressive, medium + flavor intensity an a delicate mousse. mainly fruit in the mouth. We taste melon, pear (the taste is a bit like pear cider), yellow grapes and a red berry. The finish is of medium- length.
Quality Assessment
The wine has a very typical yeast smell and hints of wine that has not yet been fermented. In the nose little fruit with a vegetal character, while the wine has a lot of fruit in the taste. A good wine, ready to drink now, not suitable for further aging.
