TASTING NOTE

Knapse Witte 2018

white wine

Our rating

7.5 /10
Not overly complex or exciting but well made, with a good balance between acidity and fruit. The flavor and aroma palates are quite similar, showing a combination of green fruit and vegetal tones of lemon, green apples and gooseberries in combination with grass, green bell-pepper and asparagus. Nice to combine with cold, light dishes, a salad or asparagus.

Detailed Tasting Notes

Wine tasting: 29 May 2020
Appearance
A clear, lemon-green colored wine with pale color intensity. Some small bubbles are visible in the glass
Nose
The wine has a clean nose, the development is youthful. The wine is not very expressive, it has a medium- aroma intensity of unripe fruit and floral aromas. We smell lemon, elderflower and green apples in combination with grass, green bell pepper and asparagus.
Palate
It is a dry wine with a medium level of alcohol (12.5%), medium in acidity. It is medium- bodied with medium flavour intensity. The fruits in the mouth differ a bit from the ones in the nose. Flavour and aroma palate are quite similar, showing a combination of green fruit and vegetal tones. We taste lemon, green apples and gooseberries in combination with grass, green bell pepper and asparagus. The wine has an interesting punchy aftertaste with a bit of a tea-like taste. The aftertaste is pleasant with medium length.
Quality Assessment
This is a good wine. It’s not overly complex and exciting but well made, with a good balance between acidity and fruit. Good to combine with cold, light dishes, a salad or asparagus.
