TASTING NOTE

Salamander Pinot Noir rosé 2019

rose wine

Our rating

7.5 /10
This rose wine of the pinot noir grape is very interesting! It has a lovely, fruity nose of yellow apple, red fruits, some citrus and light notes of fresh green herbs. In terms of taste, the wine has a somewhat heartier character and in addition to a lot of fruit, especially cranberries, we taste a fairly strong bitter note of orange peel. All in all a nice glass of wine with a bit of spice! Due to its intense flavor intensity, the wine can have some counterbalance in terms of food. For food pairing we recommend asparagus, a beetroot salad, cold pasta salad, grilled tuna or poultry.

Detailed Tasting Notes

Wine tasting: 26 Apr 2021
Appearance
A clear, salmon wine with a medium- color intensity and some tears on the glass.
Nose
The wine has a clean nose with medium aroma intensity. It has a youthful aroma development of fruit and vegetal characteristcs. We smell yellow apple, strawberry, red cherries, red berries, some citrus and light notes of fresh green herbs. Lovely!
Palate
A dry wine with a medium level of alcohol (12,5%) and medium acidity. The wine is medium-bodied with medium+ flavor intensity and fruity and vegetal characteristics. We taste cranberries, a little lychee and lime, combined with a bitterness of orange peel. In the beginning the wine has vegetal notes and a hint of artichoke. It has low tannins and a finish of medium length.
Quality Assessment
In the beginning the wine is somewhat vegetal and in addition to a lot of fruit, especially cranberries, the wine has a fairly strong bitter note. It has a fairly intense taste, but the flavors are not fully integrated, so that the wine is not completely well-balanced. A good wine to drink now, not suitable for ageing.
