TASTING NOTE

De Linie Rood 2019

red wine

Our rating

7 /10
The wine has a bit of a green character. We taste red fruits and herbaceous flavours like liquorice, rosemary and blackcurrant and pronounced smoky flavours of oak. We recommend decanting the wine, this will certainly improve the taste. After being opened for some time, the wine still has green notes of bitterness and green pepper, but the oaky flavours are less pronounced. We suspect that the grapes have been picked too green and have not yet reached full maturity.

Detailed Tasting Notes

Wine tasting: 3 Sep 2020
Appearance
A clear, purple colored wine with a deep color intensity.
Nose
The wine has a clean nose, it is youthful with a medium+ aroma intensity. We smell forest fruits and vegetal and herbaceous aromas of dried prunes, forest fruit, oak, blackcurrant, liquorice and some more vegetal aromas of green bellpepper and black olives.
Palate
A dry wine, with medium alcohol, medium+ acidity and medium+ tannins. The wine is medium-bodied with a medium flavour intensity. We taste red fruits and herbaceuous flavours like liquorice, rosemary and blackcurrent and pronounced smokey flavours of oak.
Quality Assessment
A good wine. It is ready to drink now but can improve. The wine has a green character. We recommend decanting the wine, this will certainly improve the taste. After being opened for some time, the wine still has green notes of bitterness and green pepper but the oaky flavours are less pronounced. It appears that the grapes have been picked too green and have not developed full maturity.
