Ludique Dolce 2018

Our rating: 7/10
While the wine has a very modest and greenish nose, there is an expressive taste of ripe and tropical fruits. The wine has a noticeable and elegant ‘gin-tonic’ bitterness and a little tingling on the tongue. It is a sweet wine, but not a typical dessert wine – it is a bit too light for that. The wine is good and well made and combines nicely with ice-cream, fruit and apple pie.

Ludique Dolce 2018

While the wine has a very modest and greenish nose, there is an expressive taste of ripe and tropical fruits. The wine has a noticeable and elegant ‘gin-tonic’ bitterness and a little tingling on the tongue. It is a sweet wine, but not a typical dessert wine – it is a bit too light for that. The wine is good and well made and combines nicely with ice-cream, fruit and apple pie.

This wine has had one week of skin contact, which gives it a different character than regular pinot gris wines. It is more exciting, more complex and shows a different aroma palate. We smell melon, fresh sauerkraut, asparagus, flint and wet pebbles. The wine has flavors of lemon, apple, pear, gooseberry, flint, a pinch of white pepper, basil, and a hint of bitterness. A very interesting wine!

With a nose of yellow and tropical fruits, combined with some vegetal tones the Pinot Gris of Aldenborgh doesn’t have an overwhelming nose, but the taste is full and rich in flavors! We taste a lot of ripened and tropical fruits and some minerality and citrus that give the wine with a nice freshness. In addition, we taste some buttery flavors and a bit of saltiness at the end. A nicely made wine with a lot to discover.

This wine of the uncommon grape Satin Noir offers a remarkable, pronounced aroma-intensity and a very extensive aroma palate. We smell forest fruit, dried red fruits, cedarwood, hay and herbaceous characteristics. The taste is a bit greenish with flavors of blackcurrant, sour red cherries, liquorice, thyme, green bell pepper, and eucalyptus. The wine is a bit low in alcohol and has a low level of tannins, and it therefore lacks some structure in its taste palate that would make it a truly outstanding wine. We got the impression that the grapes might not be fully ripe or that the vines were still young. Nevertheless, a well-made and pleasant red wine to drink, for example combined with pecorino or frittata.

The wine offers a surprising smell, quite pronounced and diverse. We smell a lot, and a lot of different things: dried fruits, vanilla (the smell of Italian panettone), roses, and scents of malolactic fermentation. The smell isn’t stable but continuously provides different scents, and for that reason it is quite interesting. We taste flavors of red currants, raisins, rose petal, vanilla, and almonds. The wine reminds us of red Muscat dessert wine, except without the sweetness. A very good price/quality ratio!
